A hippo getting lost in a mud puddle and not being able to get out is an opportunity not to be missed by a lion.
The moment a baby hippo fought a lion was accidentally captured by a photographer in Kruger National Park, South Africa. Kruger National Park is located in the northeast of South Africa and is one of the largest nature reserves in Africa. This national park has 5 wild species including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffaloes gathered in the largest numbers.
Initially, the mother and baby hippo got lost in a swamp by the river and the mother hippo got stuck there, unable to move.
A lion nearby, after lying down and observing carefully, stood up and approached the mother and baby hippo.
Lions usually do not dare to attack adult hippos alone, because although this animal has a large appearance, it moves very quickly, is aggressive and has sharp teeth. However, the hippo getting lost in the mud and not being able to escape is an opportunity that lions cannot ignore.
The lion rushed to bite the hippo.
But despite trying to attack the mother hippo many times, the lion was chased away by the baby hippo.
Not long after the photographer took these photos, the mother hippo passed away. Because the baby hippo was too young to care for itself, it died two days later.
