Bronny James – son of NBA’s all-time leading point-scorer LeBron James – will be playing in the Nike Summit for USA Basketball on April 8th after being included on the 13 man roster announced by USA basketball.
The elder James sent out a congratulatory tweet hours after the announcement when he said ‘Yessir!! Congrats Young Bronny!! Proud of you kid! Keep going #JamesGang.’
The competition will take place in Portland as some of the top high school basketball players in America will face off against U19 teams from around the world.
Omaha Biliew, Blake Buchanan, Isaiah Collier, Eric Dailey Jr., Justin Edwards, Ron Holland, Jared McCain, Jackson Shelstad, Sean Stewart, Dajuan Wagner Jr., Ja’Kobe Walter and Cody Williams were also named to the men’s roster.
James, who’s real name is LeBron James Jr., is currently ESPN’s 28th ranked player and 247sports No. 36 overall player in the class of 2023 and will be making his USA Basketball debut in Portland, along with Holland, and Wagner.

The team will also be coached by a first timer in Steve Turner of Gonzaga Prep in Washington D.C. Turner has previously been an assistant coach at the 2022 U17 World Cup and 2021 FIBA U16 Americas Championship, along with taking part in other various junior national team events.
The annual Nike Summit is often traditionally a hot spot for scouts and other NBA decision makers with a strong performance often going a long way to starting a productive NBA career.
An impressive 253 Nike Hoop Summit men’s alumni have been drafted into the NBA with 14 of them having been selected No. 1 overall and 88 being taken in the top 10.
Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson, along with Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are both set to make their first NBA all-star appearances after facing off in the Nike Summit game in 2017.
A total of 38 All-Stars have appeared in the Nike Hoop Summit.
USA basketball also named the women’s roster for the Summit with Sunaja ‘Nunu’ Agara, Kamorea ‘KK’ Arnold, Madison Booker, Zoe Brooks, Breya Cunningham, Aalyah Del Rosario, Jadyn Donovan, Hannah Hidalgo, Ashlynn Shade, Judea ‘JuJu’ Watkins, Jada Williams, Mikaylah Williams and Sahara Williams making the team.
The team will be coached by Sue Phillips of Archbishop Mitty in California. Phillips has lead USA basketball to four junior national teams to gold medals (2022 U17 World Cup, 2021 FIBA U16 Americas Championship, 2014 U17 World Cup, 2013 FIBA U16 Americas Championship).
