Kevin Durant Pledges Mammoth Donation for the Fight Against Social Injustice

Kevin Durant announced last week that he is going to sit out for the remainder of the regular season when it resumes in Orlando. Durant is still recovering from his ruptured Achilles tendon sustained during Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets star is extremely generous when it comes to making sizeable donations. KD wants to raise awareness about social justice following the recent events of racism and police brutality in the country.

Kevin Durant partners with a deodorant company to donate a large sum to ten different organizations

The two-time MVP has collaborated with Degree Deodrant to offer $1 million to ten organizations in hopes of promoting social justice. Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News covered the story. The journalist tweeted the names of a few organizations based in New York that will benefit from Durant’s actions.

Kevin Durant has always been a person who gives back. The 31-year-old has a line of companies and recently pledged to contribute to the fight against racism. Durant’s companies Thirty Five Ventures, The Boardroom, and Kevin Durant Charity Foundation released a statement that was shared by Nick Friar of the Nets Wire

“Black lives matter.”

“We are united in defense of black lives and black voices everywhere, and we join our peers and colleagues in the call for an end to the systemic racism in our country. We are making a donation to the NAACP and Center for Policing Equity in honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and all those who’ve lost their lives or suffered injustice at the hands of the police.”

Durant vows to donate money and help to end systematic racism in the country. Through his organizations, KD has done a lot of good to the society. Besides that, the fans of the NBA are patiently waiting for his return to the league. Durant signed with the Nets in 2019 after his relationship with the Golden State Warriors deteriorated. However, the two-time Finals MVP is yet to feature in his first game for the Nets. It looks as if we can only see him return to action from the 2020-21 season.
