Durant missed some of Team USA’s games last month following a calf injury.
Kevin Durant got a chance to see Simone Biles perform in person for the first time on Thursday, Aug. 1, and he came away a little jealous.
The 35-year-old Phoenix Suns forward, who is currently at the 2024 Paris Olympics as part of Team USA, was in attendance for the women’s gymnastics all-around and was very impressed by the 27-year-old gymnast’s performance. In a brief interview with Olympics.com host Nick McCarvel, as revealed on his X social media account, Durant was asked about Biles’ vault.
“That was nice. It’s my first time seeing her live,” he said. “I wish I had that kind of muscle in my calves. I’m going to have to get in the gym for that.”
Biles made history on Thursday with her second all-around title, which makes her the third woman to earn the all-around gold medal more than once. She walked away with her sixth Olympic gold medal, which is her second of the Paris Games.
Durant continued his praise on X, formerly Twitter. “Goat Biles,” he wrote, which he followed up with a second tweet: “I really believe Goat Biles can catch a lob and finish. #bounce”
Durant’s comment about Biles’ calves comes after he missed out on several of Team USA’s games due to a calf injury he sustained during training. By the time he recovered, he massively impressed basketball fans during Team USA’s match against Serbia last week, during which he scored 21 points without missing a single shot.
