Man United have dropped to 14th in the Premier League table after two consecutive defeats to Brighton and Liverpool. These results have put a lot of pressure on coach Ten Hag.
Ten Hag will be sacked if MU loses to Southampton
Asked if Ten Hag’s position would be in danger if he suffered a third consecutive defeat, Louis Saha said: “I think so. Against Liverpool, it was about the performance, not the result. So Ten Hag was under pressure because the team did not play well.
There was no sign in the game that things would be fixed. On Saturday, if Southampton can dominate Man United like Liverpool did, the situation will become untenable for Ten Hag.
“He needs to find a way to beat the best teams and that’s what every manager needs to do. But at the same time, your philosophy has to be on a level that the players can understand. They need to know what the manager wants and what they need to do in the game.”
Saha also believes that Arne Slot’s tactical ability is completely superior to Ten Hag’s, because MU lacks identity and tactics.
“There are many commentators and media people, as well as fans, who cannot understand many things when they watch Man United at this time.
We saw Arne Slot and Liverpool destroy Ten Hag’s tactics in the last game. At this point, it’s not about individuals, it’s about seeing a plan that the players can identify and hurt the opponent. The problem now is tactics. That’s why Ten Hag is being criticised. There are many things to improve.”
