He’s a chip off the old block! Chris Hemsworth and his equally buff father Craig show off their impressive muscles as they go for a surf in Australia together

He’s known for his incredibly ripped physique.

And while Chris Hemworth trains hard to keep in shape, it seems the Thor actor’s hard body also comes down to very good genes.

The 32-year-old went for a surf with his father Craig earlier this month in Byron Bay, Australia, and the pair showed off their equally buff bodies.

So that’s where he gets it from! Chris Hemsworth and his equally buff father Craig showed off their impressive muscles as they went surfing in Byron Bay, Australia together earlier this month

Chris showed off his washboard abs and taut pecks in a pair of black board shorts, carrying his surfboard beneath one arm as he padded up and down the sand with his father.

The father-of-three seemed in high spirits as the pair chatted after their session, foregoing his wet suit to make the most of the balmy weather.

Craig was equally relaxed, slipping in to some green and grey shorts for the pair’s outing.

Having fun: The pair chatted away as they made their way back from the beach after the refreshing surf session

Bonding: The 32-year-old appeared engrossed in conversation with his old man as they headed back towards the car

Ripped: Chris’s bulging muscles were clear to see as he loaded the pair’s boards in to the back of his truck

He toted his own board beneath his arm with just as much ease as his heartthrob son.

Chris lives in the area with his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children. He recently returned to Australia after promoting his newest film, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, in the U.S.

It is the latest in a string of Hollywood films this year in which he appears, with In The Heart of The Sea released in December.

In shape: The father-of-three showed off his washboard abs and bulging biceps as he enjoyed the outing

Heartthrob: Chris stars in the latest installment of The Huntsman franchise and has been promoting the film overseas

Craig, the actor’s father, is understood to live in Melbourne’s Phillip Island. He formerly worked as a social services counsellor and, according to his eldest son, played a key role in forming Victoria’s child protection policies.

Telling of his pride over both his parents’ achievements (his mother Leonie is a retired English teacher and worked alongside his father in Australian Childhood Foundation), Luke told The Daily Telegraph: ‘They wrote a model for basically every Australian organisation so they would be able to recognise abuse and steps to follow in safeguarding children.’

Last year it was revealed Chris had paid off their parents’ debts, with his younger brother Liam revealing in an emotional interview that the gesture moved him to tears.

Downtime: Chris appeared to be enjoying spending time in the area after a busy few weeks on the road

Buff: The star beefed back up again recently after shedding weight for his role in In The Heart of The Sea

Home turf: The actor recently returned to Australia after spending weeks promoting his new film abroad

Stretching it out: Chris loosened up after the surf, leaning on the back of his ute and leaning backwards

Limber: Chris lifted one leg over the side of his car for one final stretch before setting off

Telling The Independent how Chris had phoned his father to tell him to check his bank account after topping it up, the Hunger Games star said: ‘He called my brother Chris back and said: “I don’t know how to feel.

‘Since I left home I have had debts and I thought I’d be paying them off until I died and have this weight hanging over me, and now to have them completely cleared.”

‘They are so happy now and able to spend more time with us, I would love to be able to do something for my parents like that.’

Surf’s up! Chris lives in Byron Bay with his wife, Elsa Pataky, and their three young children

Brooding: The star looked refreshed after his dip in the ocean earlier this month

Kind-hearted: Chris, it was previously revealed, paid off his parents’ debts last year

In his element: The star grew up in Australia and returned permanently in January to settle with his family
