How fitting is it that DraftKings recruited King James for the company’s latest campaign?

With the NFL season in full swing, bettors are ferociously researching and planning out their bets for the week. From single plays to massive parlays, gambling has become a major part of the sports world in 2024.

DraftKings is one of the leaders in the industry, and the sports book is pulling out all of the stops for its latest advertising campaign. Lakers superstar LeBron James and comedian Kevin Hart star in the company’s two latest commercials frequenting the television on Sundays.

DraftKings currently has two commercials out involving James and Hart. Both are taking over commercial slots on NFL broadcasts, and people can’t stop talking about them.

That’s called marketing, baby!

The first has to do with Hart making fun of James’ age. The actor takes jabs at the NBA star, stating how the NFL “wants someone who can run a 40, not is 40” and doesn’t confuse playcalling with Bingo numbers. Hart also digs James’ age by stating he will be “giving everyone butterscotch candy” for a celebration.

The second commercial is all about touchdown dances. Celebrations in the end zone have become a norm in the NFL, with players finding unique ways to incorporate social trends into the game.

Hart and James go back and forth, giving their best reenactments of what they are declaring to be the best touchdown dances of all time.

DraftKings announced in February that James would be joining the company as “talent ambassador around football and select key tentpole events as part of a multi-year agreement.”

How old is LeBron James?

James is 39 years old. He was born on Dec. 30, 1984, meaning he will turn 40 years old during the 2024-25 NBA season.

Ironically, Hart is actually older than his commercial counterpart. Born on July 6, 1979, the comedian is 45 years old — about five and a half years older than James.

If it’s not evident enough in the commercials, James is taller than Hart — by a lot.

James is listed at 6-9, making him taller than the average NBA player. That puts him over a foot taller than Hart, who has said his height is 5-5.

That gives the four-time NBA champion quite the size advantage over his smaller co-star.
