LEBRON JAMES SAYS SON BRONNY JOINING LAKERS IS ‘GREATEST THING THAT’S EVER HAPPENED’

LeBron James is over the moon about playing alongside his son, Bronny James.

In an interview with Craig Melvin of the Today Show that aired Monday, July 8, the basketball icon shared his thoughts on his recent re-signing with the Los Angeles Lakers and the exciting news that his 19-year-old son will play on the same team.

“When it comes to basketball, it’s the greatest accomplishment that I’ve ever had,” said the 39-year-old athlete and father of three. Despite his numerous individual achievements, LeBron told Melvin, 45, that “there’s no greater accomplishment that will be able to overtake me being on the same floor as my son.”

He added, “It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened.”

Bronny, LeBron’s eldest son, joined the Lakers last month as the No. 55 pick. His father believes that he can handle the scrutiny that comes with being in the spotlight.

“I don’t know if people really understand Bronny,” James told ESPN on Sunday. “He doesn’t care. I actually care a little bit. When I came in [as a rookie], I wanted people to like me, and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career. …”

“He does not care about nobody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s like the coolest. He’s like the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something [to address the critics]. Bro does not care. … Everything that’s being said about him, he really does not care,” he continued.

Moreover, LeBron says his son has not let the family’s success affect who he is as a person.

“Just imagine if you were a kid, you were born into a situation where your dad was super famous, super wealthy and you the kid still had the drive to want to be able to accomplish things for yourself,” James, 39, said. “I personally don’t know if I would’ve been able to do that if the roles were reversed.
