As LeBron James and his 19-year-old son Bronny James became the first father-son duo to be on the same NBA roster in league history with the former USC star’s second-round draft selection on Thursday, some unique scenarios popped up alongside it.
One social-media user poked fun at Bronny’s mother and LeBron’s wife, Savannah James, for her relation to the two Los Angeles Lakers.
‘It has been discovered that LeBron James is sleeping with his newest teammate’s mom,’ the social-media user said.
The joke is not referring to any James family adultery with Corey Knecht, father of the Lakers’ No 17 overall pick Dalton Knecht. It is for Savannah’s unique piece of NBA history being the mother and wife of league teammates at the same time.
Savannah responded to the joke on Instagram with a blushing and laughing emoji hours after Bronny was selected with the No 55 overall pick.
The James family has become one of the most famous in basketball, if not all of sports
LeBron long stated his desire to play in the NBA alongside Bronny before he retires
One person poked fun at the James duo being on the same team with Savannah responding
LeBron had long stated his desire to play in the NBA with his son, with Bronny’s selection being viewed as a way to lure James away from the Lakers.
There was also the possibility that rose for an NBA expansion team in Las Vegas, where James would have an ownership stake, where he could build a roster that included Bronny, and his younger brother Bryce James, a top-200 player nationally in the class of 2025.
LeBron has been on the sidelines supporting his two sons’ basketball careers as they played for powerhouse prep school Sierra Canyon. That continued during Bronny’s freshman year as USC.
Now with LeBron’s good friend and podcast co-host JJ Redick installed as Los Angeles’ head coach, LeBron seemingly has more say on his team than any other player in the league.
That gave credence to the reports that the James’ family agent, Rich Paul, was calling other NBA teams telling them not to draft Bronny or he would opt to play in Australia.
Now that LeBron’s dream has come true in Los Angeles, Savannah and watch her eldest child and husband play together in the NBA.
