It was a basketball match to remember on Monday (Dec. 12) as Christ the King faced off against Sierra Canyon. Bronny and Bryce James of Sierra Canyon joined their teammates in battling for the win against Kiyan Anthony and his teammates of Christ the King.
Many believe the match was 20 years in the making. LeBron James competed against Carmelo Anthony when the two were in high school back in 2002. Anthony’s team at St. Oak Hill Academy won the game against James’ team at St. Vincent-St. Mary back then with a final score of 72-66. This past Monday was a bit of a different story as Sierra Canyon beat Christ the King with a final score of 62-51.
It is no secret that the James brothers and Kiyan Anthony are aiming to play basketball professionally. Kiyan is already ranked among the top 65 in 247 Sports Class of 2025. The youngster has also received athletic scholarship offers from several colleges including his father’s alma mater, Syracuse University.
Bronny and Bryce James are also making waves in high school basketball. It was just a few weeks ago that Ohio State University reaffirmed its offer extended to the rising star. Bryce, who is presently a sophomore at Sierra Canyon, has also reportedly caught the eye of college recruits.
Carmelo Anthony has expressed his desire to support his son from the sidelines should Kiyan Anthony play in the NBA one day. LeBron James, however, hopes to play basketball professionally alongside his kids.
“I feel like I could play for quite a while,” James shared during a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. “So it’s all up to the body, but more importantly, my mind,” he added. “If my mind can stay sharp and fresh and motivated, then the sky’s not even the limit for me,” James declared. “I can go beyond that,” the star athlete said. “But we shall see.”
