The San Antonio Spurs are known to draft great talent first overall, as seen before in Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Last year the Spurs did the same by drafting another promising future talent in Victor Wembanyama. The hype around Wemby before entering the league was on another level.
Throughout the season, Wemby dominated the game with his size and versatility on both ends of the floor. Fans were amazed to see a guy with Wemby’s stature be so quick on the court. He even set many records in his rookie season and led the league in blocks as a rookie. Overall, Wemby’s performance exceeded expectations and solidified him as a standout player in the league.
Even in the Olympics, the 20-year-old Frenchman carried the French team to the finals of the Olympics. Despite putting on a great performance in the finals, France could not defeat the stacked Team USA. Wemby, after the game, issued a warning to the world about what they would see in the future.
